Prior to that, Cy was a Director at HSBC, where he jointly managed the Nedbank Entrepreneur Fund. Cy completed his accounting articles at Kessel Feinstein (later acquired by Grant Thornton). Cy has been in the industry for over 25 years and holds a BCom, BAcc and CA (SA).

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant Shane began his investment career at Liberty Asset Management in 1995 as an Investment Analyst. He was later appointed Senior Fund Manager, responsible for managing a unit trust fund, third party pension funds and eventually the life fund of the Liberty Group. Following this, Shane spent three years as a Director of Corporate Finance at UBS Warburg before moving to Peregrine Capital as a Director. After seven years at Peregrine Capital he started All Weather Capital and has been at the company since 2014 and built up an AUM of over R20bn.

He subsequently joined Bankers Trust until their takeover by Deutsche Bank in 1999 following which he started the US operations of Collins Stewart with Julian Robins working again with Terry Smith. Barry is the manager of the Investec BCI Dynamic Equity fund which he has managed since inception. He is passionate about sustainability and was instrumental in the creation of the Investec Global Sustainable Equity fund which he co-manages. He is also a member of the Investec group ESG Executive Committee. Barry Shamley started his career at Investec in 1996 before moving to Oryx Investment Management in 2006 where he co-managed its award winning flagship fund. He rejoined Investec in 2010. Barry obtained a B.A. from the University of Witwatersrand and a BComm (Hons) F.A.P.M. from the University of Cape Town. Melanie joined Laurium in December 2020 as a portfolio manager. Melanie was a founding member of Tantalum Capital where for 15 years she was Head of Fixed Interest and the portfolio manager for the fixed income portfolios as well as contributing to the multi-asset portfolios. From 2002 to 2005 Melanie was at Coronation Fund Managers where she was head of the fixed interest team, managing fixed interest institutional and retail portfolios as well as the Strategic Income Fund. Melanie started her career in 1997 at Standard Corporate & Merchant Bank. Initially, she focused on interest rate and liquidity management before she moved to the Treasury Sales and Structuring Desk where she gained significant experience in structuring and marketing fixed income, credit and securitised products to institutional investors.

Sandile joined M&G Investments in 2013 as a member of the fixed-income team and joined the multi-asset team in 2018. In 2023, he was promoted to Co-Head of Multi-Asset, assuming a co-leadership role with Michael Moyle. He is currently the joint-Portfolio Manager of M&G Balanced and Inflation Plus Funds, and he is involved in managing our range of global funds. His role also involves providing analytical and economic support to our multi-asset and fixed-interest investment process. He is a member of the M&G Investments Asset Allocation Committee.

With 15 years’ industry experience, Sandile previously worked for Investec Asset Management as a fixed interest dealer and analyst. He also served as Portfolio Manager on large institutional fixed interest client mandates with liability immunization objectives.

Sandile holds a BSc in Mathematical Statistics and Actuarial Science and is a Fellow of the Faculty and Institute of Actuaries.

JP du Plessis is currently the head of fixed income and fixed income portfolio manager at Methodical Investment Management where he has been since February 2021.

Prior to that he was at Laurium Capital where he was head of fixed income and ran fixed income and asset allocation funds as well as being a member of the asset allocation committee. Before joining Laurium capital, JP was deputy head of fixed income at Prescient Investment Management.

JP has been in the investment industry since 1997 investing in both local and global fixed income markets. His experience has predominantly been in fixed interest investing across the full spectrum of assets from complex structured credit /derivative assets to vanilla government bonds. JP has a strong track record of managing fixed income assets, have built relationships over time with the South African investor base and a regular presenter in industry forums. JP started his investment career on the proprietary bond trading desk of a German bank based in London. Before moving back to South Africa and joining Prescient, he worked for a fund management company in London, focusing on fixed interest hedge fund investing. Prior to this JP was a senior investment analyst for a $1bn fund of hedge funds, run by Schroders Investment Management, where he was responsible for fixed interest, credit and event-driven strategies. Before joining Schroders he served as the head of fixed income evaluations at Standard & Poor’s in London, where JP ran a team that analysed over 100,000 predominately European fixed income securities.

Malcolm is a portfolio manager in the South African Rates team, with responsibility for a range of fixed income portfolios, including the Flexible Bond, Dynamic Bond and Diversified Income strategies as well as the Fixed Income hedge fund.

Prior to joining Ninety One in 2001, he worked for African Harvest Fund Managers and Old Mutual Asset Managers, as both a fixed interest trader and portfolio manager.

Adrian joined the asset management industry in 1995 and has acted in the capacity of analyst, portfolio manager, CIO, board member and CEO over his career.

After 13 years of successfully managing the top performing PSG Balanced fund as well as being the CEO of PSG Asset Management, he reluctantly decided to resign in late 2012 as a rare opportunity arose to acquire Northstar Asset Management.

Philip joined PortfolioMetrix in January 2021 as SA Head of Investments, a role that includes fund management responsibilities in the Income and Multi-asset space as well as being a key member of PortfolioMetrix’s global investment committee. Philip is a multiple-award winning fund manager with over 20 years’ experience in global asset allocation and fixed income.

He began his career at Investec in 1999, where he worked for 9 years in asset management, wealth advisory and as a bond and interest rate trader. From 2008 to 2014 Philip worked at Absa Wealth in the role of Chief Investment Officer. Prior to joining PMX he was the Chief Investment Officer at Sasfin Asset Managers where he was responsible for the management over R15 billion in multi-asset and income portfolios. During his tenure he was the fund manager of the flagship Flexible Income and Balanced funds, which won a Morningstar award and numerous Raging Bull awards.

Faisal is responsible for investment research at RisCura. He has 24 years’ investment industry experience researching investment managers across asset classes and geographies, including alternatives. In his role as RisCura’s Head of Investment Research, Faisal is responsible for all manager selection. He has also led the research of local fund managers in emerging markets such as China. Prior to joining RisCura in 2011, Faisal was an investment manager at Coal Pension Trustees Limited where he was responsible for manager research across asset classes. Brandon has been actively managing long-only and hedge fund assets since 2005. He graduated with a BCom (Economics) in 1992 and holds a CFA Charter since 2003. Brandon has experience investing in Developed Markets, Emerging and Frontier Markets across fixed income, currency, structured credit and equity asset classes.

Brandon’s financial services experience started in 1993 in market research within NBS Corporate Bank where he was responsible for sectoral research and strategy, informing the lending operations of the bank. It was over this period that Brandon completed an advanced diploma in bank credit management.  Following the merger between NBS Bank and BoE Bank, he joined BoE Bank Treasury in 1996, where he focused on currency dealing and interest rate arbitrage.

From 2000 to 2003 Brandon managed the market risk of BoE Treasury, BoE Securities and the BoE Hedge Funds while completing his CFA. Following the merger between BoE Bank and Nedbank he was appointed Treasurer (Global) of Seaboard Overseas Limited (SOL), a NYSE listed multi-national commodity trading company. At SOL Brandon took overall responsibility for optimising the syndicated loan facilities and commodity hedging strategies using CBOT options and futures. In 2005 Brandon was appointed as a portfolio manager at Metropolitan Asset Managers, responsible for Liability Driven Investments of the Guaranteed Annuities products utilising nominal bonds, currency, and interest rate derivatives in multi-asset investment strategies. He managed a portfolio with AUM in excess of R7.0bn.

In 2012, Brandon was a founder of Saffron Wealth (Pty)Ltd, a hedge fund investment manager located in Stellenbosch from where it operates today. In 2013 Brandon won the Raging Bull Award for the best performing multi-asset income fund on a risk adjusted basis over 5years (The Saffron Met Opportunity Income Fund). In 2022 Saffron won the Raging Bull Award for the best straight performance of a multi-asset income fund over 3years (The Saffron BCI Active Bond Fund). Arno has been in investment management since approximately 1991 and has deep institutional knowledge and a vast network in South Africa’s financial markets. He has managed funds and portfolio management teams across a full range of mandates, from fixed income to global multi-asset funds, at some of the largest asset managers in the country. With a strong entrepreneurial mindset, he was founder and CIO of Atlantic Asset Management in 2007, providing a growth platform from which a range of funds and solutions were launched, before they were acquired by the FirstRand Group. Most recently, he served as Global Investment Strategist at Ashburton Investments, chairing the Global Macro Forum and with day-to-day responsibility of portfolio management of their Global Multi-Asset Fund range. Arno has an Honours degree in Mathematical Statistics and is a CFA charterholder. Outside of financial markets he also serves on the board of advisors in the biotechnology space.

Aiman joined Schroders in 2017 and as QEP Investment Director is responsible for communicating on investment process, policy, strategy and markets to investors across the EMEA region as well as other product development and commercial priorities. Prior to joining QEP, he worked for four years at Psigma Investment Management as an Investment Associate. Aiman’s investment career commenced in 2012 at Wesleyan Assurance Society where he worked as an Equity Analyst with a focus on the UK market. Evan is the founder, executive director, and Portfolio Manager at Sesfikile Capital. He holds a BCom Hons in Financial Management (Cum Laude) degree from the University of Johannesburg and a Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) designation. Evan started his career at Stanlib in the Wealth division representing teams such as Structured and Alternative Investments and Product Development. He soon moved on to asset management as an analyst primarily focused on listed property and then took on the role of co-head of the listed property franchise. During his tenure at Stanlib, the team grew the franchise to be the largest listed property manager in South Africa and achieved several number-one performance rankings across three and five-year investment periods. Evan co-managed the Stanlib Global Property Fund, which invested in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

Andrew Clifton is a portfolio specialist in the Equity Division. Andrew’s investment experience began in 1990, and he has been with T. Rowe Price since 2010, beginning in the Investment Specialist Group. Prior to this, Andrew was employed by UBS as an executive director at Global Asset Management. Andrew also was a vice president at Merrill Lynch. Andrew earned a B.Sc. in economics from the London School of Economics and an M.Sc. in econometrics from the University of Southampton.

Jonathan has 28 years of fixed income experience. Prior to joining Visio, he served as Head of Fixed Interest at Granate Asset Management. Ofri joined the Visio Capital team in June 2006, and is a portfolio manager for the firm’s hedge fund and absolute return mandates.
